The short background story would be, that at the time of year 2000, a guy named Edgars Rasiņš, a latvian programmer was working with a lot of projects, and many of them were online stores. At that time he was creating online stores with their CMS, but soon he realized, that it was far not enough. Seeing the whole e-commerce process from inside – from its very beginning to the end customer, – he understood that standard online stores with their CMS covers very little part of the whole e-commerce process.
By seeing all the struggle and ineffective ways of store’s communication with both incoming (many suppliers with their own conditions, products, prices etc.) and outgoing (distributors and buyers) sources, Edgars saw the actual pain and problems of every e-commerce enterprise, so he gained the understanding that something has to be changed, and the changes needed to be done are quite massive.
In 2010 Edgars started to develop new e-commerce system. The vision was to cover and support all e-commerce related processes, including suppliers and their stocks, pricing, product catalogues, product describtions, data exchange etc. The ultimate goal was to create a fully-working online store, which would be perfectly suitable for every product, payment and delivery model, and for every business model. It was the first version of ECOM 2.0 system with the ideology and values that it holds right now.
In the beginning of 2013 Edgar was working with a major assignment, and in order to accomplish all the tasks needed, he decided that he will write his own framework. By doing that and accomplishing all the tasks he was assigned to, Edgars was so pleased with the new framework he wrote, it wasn’t a long time when he came out with the need to rewrite his E-commerce system ECOM 2.0 fully in the new framework (he named it DGV, and stands for “Do. Get. View.”).
Since the year 2013 we know the ECOM 2.0 system as it is now, in 2016, written on the basis on Edgars new framework, with many additional functions and modules, that are written and upgraded all the time till this very moment. For client that means a whole e-commerce platform that delivers a high-end experience and offers a full-range functions in order to cover all processes in e-commerce cycle, as well as the possibility to choose and add any functional and modules, that our client needs for its unique business needs and goals.
